We have decided to fix some things with the house, and then put it up for sale. It is a sad decision for me, as I love my house, but in the long run it will be good. My husband and I want to buy some property and build our own house. We want to be able to raise animals and have a quieter life. I think it will be a great change, though scary at the same time, as I know nothing about raising farm animals. It will be a little bit before we are at that point as, we need to find the property first, along with paying off some bills. Hopefully that will come sooner than later. <br />
<br />
We are going to add some garden beds to our garden area, in hopes that it will make it easier and nicer to grow our vegetables in. My husband is currently working on getting a compost bin ready, which will be great to produce our own compost and not have to buy it anymore. It only took about two and a half weeks to complete, which is pretty good considering all the things that were wrong in the kitchen. The primer that I used for the walls was Kilz 2, which in my experience is one of the best primers out there. I used Color Place 10831, Airy Himalayan Poppy for the walls and Color Place 10795 Dusty Powder Blue for the cabinets and woodwork. I wanted to have some contrast in the kitchen to make it interesting. Since the walls and cabinets were painted in an apricot color I had to use two coats of primer and paint to cover the color completely. The apricot was bleeding through really bad, therefore I ended up using more paint than I wanted to. <br />
<br />
I decided to keep the wood floor that was in the kitchen, and gave it a good cleaning so it would look almost new. I also kept the cabinets and worked them over to get them looking newer. I used USG Mud to fill in the holes and gaps that were in the cabinets and on the doors, as well as the drawers. After I completed that, I used a hand sander with 220 grit sandpaper to give it a smooth appearance to paint over.<br />
<br />
I replaced the old moldy kitchen sink with a stainless steel one, which in my opinion hides the scratches a lot better than the porcelain ones. The trick to installing a new sink is to make a pattern. Trace the sink on a large piece of cardboard and cut it out. Place the cutout where you want your sink to be and trace around it. Then you will want to use hole saws to cut into the corners with. Once you have cut out the four corners, you use a jigsaw to cut the rest out. You will then want to take a sand block and smooth out the rough spots. Once you have completed all of that it is time to test fit your sink. It should drop right in and be clamped in place. <br />
<br />
A dishwasher was also installed, and in order to do that, one of the cabinets had to be taken out, which wasn't that hard. The hard part was moving the framework for the drawers over. After putting the framework in the new spot, a couple of supports had to be built to make them sturdier. I also decided that I wanted a garbage disposal installed as well since we were installing some new pipe for the dishwasher. <br />
<br />
I also picked out new counter tops for the cabinets. I decided to go with a prefabbed counter, as I had no prior experience in using Formica. The only thing that I really know about using Formica, is that when you put it down on the glue you had better be sure that is where you want it as you can't move once it has touched the glue. The hardest part with the counters was getting the 45 degree angles to match. In order to make them fit together nicely, a little bit had to be sanded off at a time on each one. After a lot of sanding the counters finally fit and it was time to clamp them down. <br />
<br />
Once everything was in place, it was time to use silicon to seal up any cracks. We used a clear and a white silicon. The clear was used for the counters and the the while was used for where the counter meets the wall. <br />

The kitchen has been slowly getting worse since we moved in about four years ago. The one counter was tile, and it was so moldy that after you wiped it off with Clorox, it still looked gross. The sink was put in crooked, so that water would run down the counter and collect in a puddle. I had a towel down there, but it still molded. The wall were painted this horrible peach color and so were the cub boards. Plus the cupboards you couldn't scrub to get clean, as the wood was pitted so bad. <br />
<br />
I decided that I would paint my kitchen blue. I used two different blues, as I wanted my walls and cupboards to be different colors. <br />

I have been taking pictures of the progress and will be posting them when the remodel is complete.Roxyhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/16083361605848971648noreply@blogger.com14tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4376640376051921908.post-43106337655961593402011-12-27T20:15:00.000-08:002011-12-27T20:24:47.960-08:00Fireplace Final PhaseAfter working on the fireplace for a year and a half it is finally finished. It was installed and ready to use on Christmas Eve. It was exciting as it is something that I have wanted since we moved into the house. We lit our first fire in it and it was worked really great. There hasn't been a fire in that fireplace for over 70 years. After a lot of hard work and dedication, I can definitely say it was one of the hardest projects that has been done with the house. There is a removable ash pan at the bottom so I don't have to scrape the ashes out, which helps prevent the ashes from getting all over the floor. The insert was painted with a high temperature spray paint. I decided to go with black as that is the color that looked the best against the tile. The glass is a special tempered glass that had to be ordered in. I had my husband cut out the Celtic triquetra out of metal to put over the glass. I wanted something unique. <br /><br /><br /><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhgviJTIxgxJuARDp-Yyp3ZQH9Xnk5s9s2ZVOO0VrXAcwxn___YOFNtTXF-s1GohEK4ZVcpZbxXxUju3n7yol3Ld58dM3LCHaj2ymZ2dCRcMxJvSuXLOoZkksri67TCRxoUxSSkeOFmdhA/s1600/insertin.jpg"><img style="width: 150px; height: 200px; cursor: pointer;" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5691028979049508482" border="0" alt="" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhgviJTIxgxJuARDp-Yyp3ZQH9Xnk5s9s2ZVOO0VrXAcwxn___YOFNtTXF-s1GohEK4ZVcpZbxXxUju3n7yol3Ld58dM3LCHaj2ymZ2dCRcMxJvSuXLOoZkksri67TCRxoUxSSkeOFmdhA/s200/insertin.jpg" /></a><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhr9ehvA9W0mtTnzlahbc4_BiFRhGoYTNgX5yKmx67QKAyRa-7Y6OCYZzORvIYgb9TWiiHKOWiv6hbXgAQk1vj_0Xs5yj76KhFBAQTHV25QzfF0yFAvVL3eskCnEH35ca0pSD-ddTGKw2U/s1600/Dooron.jpg"><img style="width: 178px; height: 200px; cursor: pointer;" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5691028983534879826" border="0" alt="" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhr9ehvA9W0mtTnzlahbc4_BiFRhGoYTNgX5yKmx67QKAyRa-7Y6OCYZzORvIYgb9TWiiHKOWiv6hbXgAQk1vj_0Xs5yj76KhFBAQTHV25QzfF0yFAvVL3eskCnEH35ca0pSD-ddTGKw2U/s200/Dooron.jpg" /></a><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhkGHFMyp71KOemb01WmuO7SHPJAszXdDjUohaLloqJ6ALGPRFiw-ltLVNGJilISR4SBncAnb7mClBm233VwdPvbe6tvGG9TlT7jsjn_uRrZ2BngfAEC7fcn_tH4V3c-uxwRGSIXGJrBmk/s1600/Cradle.jpg"><img style="width: 200px; height: 162px; cursor: pointer;" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5691028992859504498" border="0" alt="" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhkGHFMyp71KOemb01WmuO7SHPJAszXdDjUohaLloqJ6ALGPRFiw-ltLVNGJilISR4SBncAnb7mClBm233VwdPvbe6tvGG9TlT7jsjn_uRrZ2BngfAEC7fcn_tH4V3c-uxwRGSIXGJrBmk/s200/Cradle.jpg" /></a><br /><div><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhh3Gw-oc5re_VfaiQPfLs5hXrR_uLoHehR0mlqgR5cVcKSP5cqlqcQgqIwx-Xz5cRBWB2DUlnB8-eCX2aoYkXwcAxLygVP8dm5n6BBzkxB4KSBLFmx8ESP3XoxGe6Clr90K0leLc_ROn4/s1600/Finished.jpg"><img style="width: 140px; height: 200px; cursor: pointer;" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5691029001153694594" border="0" alt="" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhh3Gw-oc5re_VfaiQPfLs5hXrR_uLoHehR0mlqgR5cVcKSP5cqlqcQgqIwx-Xz5cRBWB2DUlnB8-eCX2aoYkXwcAxLygVP8dm5n6BBzkxB4KSBLFmx8ESP3XoxGe6Clr90K0leLc_ROn4/s200/Finished.jpg" /></a><br /><div><br /><div><br /><div> </div><div> </div></div></div></div>Roxyhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/16083361605848971648noreply@blogger.com3tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4376640376051921908.post-51829608827400143992011-12-01T19:39:00.000-08:002011-12-27T19:52:28.582-08:00Fireplace Phase 5<div><div>The fireplace is almost complete a few more weeks and it will be ready to install. The mantel has been cut to fit and is ready to be stained. I decided to use pine for it, as it was one of the nicest woods that I looked at, plus it wasn't really expensive. </div><div> </div><div>Since the wood was in good condition, I decided that I don't have to paint it beige before staining it. The wood was cut to fit the chimney and was sanded. After it was sanded, I wiped it down with a damp rag and let it dry for a couple of hours. After making sure that it was completely dry, I set up my buckets and got busy with staining. I used the <span id="SPELLING_ERROR_0" class="blsp-spelling-error">Minwax</span> brand in #215 Red Oak. <span id="SPELLING_ERROR_1" class="blsp-spelling-corrected">Unfortunately</span>, this stain did not have the <span id="SPELLING_ERROR_2" class="blsp-spelling-corrected">polyurethane</span> (varnish) mixed in with it, so I had to buy some. I only put one coat of stain on the wood, as the red oak went on pretty dark. After letting it dry for a couple of days, I used the <span id="SPELLING_ERROR_3" class="blsp-spelling-corrected">polyurethane</span> to seal the stain on the wood. I had to let that dry for a few days before I could hang it. </div><div> </div><div> <a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEj0-3tPQSFsRzLfICkQvJ3Vzydz08WrS-liNOmZgzjxy7i9RFFx9J6ab36qTTq8bAtuLV_7sQTTRG6m9zCkBnoGwfG1jgLkRINlIKd_GwbrF2Sum779S4jXF9DdVU7jIANlUGhI4wc7W_8/s1600/MantelA.jpg"><img style="width: 200px; height: 40px; cursor: pointer;" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5691021385350728098" border="0" alt="" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEj0-3tPQSFsRzLfICkQvJ3Vzydz08WrS-liNOmZgzjxy7i9RFFx9J6ab36qTTq8bAtuLV_7sQTTRG6m9zCkBnoGwfG1jgLkRINlIKd_GwbrF2Sum779S4jXF9DdVU7jIANlUGhI4wc7W_8/s200/MantelA.jpg" /></a><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEg0M-xwjdekxQ-YzUsphE35iQFtPMZTmg_9t1mWCx-bdvWP3utHaNL6SAig9Z0AfqiziiijMPjAoHXeN6Bckp0i3OL1q57S8qVA5LxRkElcg_hpqmZRzkQQ0zksGO92g0L91Lb0MIFH7Tg/s1600/MantelB.jpg"><img style="width: 200px; height: 42px; cursor: pointer;" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5691021391082259490" border="0" alt="" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEg0M-xwjdekxQ-YzUsphE35iQFtPMZTmg_9t1mWCx-bdvWP3utHaNL6SAig9Z0AfqiziiijMPjAoHXeN6Bckp0i3OL1q57S8qVA5LxRkElcg_hpqmZRzkQQ0zksGO92g0L91Lb0MIFH7Tg/s200/MantelB.jpg" /></a></div></div>Roxyhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/16083361605848971648noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4376640376051921908.post-5419766734632128002011-10-27T19:30:00.000-07:002011-12-27T19:37:23.113-08:00Fireplace Phase 4<div><div>Working on the insert has been extremely time consuming, as it has to be custom made to fit the existing firebox of the fireplace. The surround was pretty easy to take down and the walls behind it were really horrible looking. There was old glue from some tile that was never cleaned off and you could see the remnants of the tile squares. We decided to put durock up instead of water resistant wall board because the dur rock will not come apart or mold when it gets wet. Instead of putting up another surround I decided to use the sheet linoleum in kind of a rock pattern and a metal shelf. It turned out really good, and it looks so much better than the old surround. When my husband was cutting the trim to go around the tub, he accidently cut a couple of the pieces a little too short, so we had to fill them in with silicone and I stained those areas to match the trim. We also found found another note hidden in the wall with the plumbing. We decided to add our own not next to that one.<br /><br />Pics of the bathtub area:<br /><br /><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjzLKhNdW2anAGV3BZQZ8BH6CsCekC-mjFq_UzA19maZD9ob9INBry3hHyspKiV3yi_9TO5G6qQCkOIzGj1MuH_lXd0q2caTrYtS9VW3T6Ohh9IO9CT2hfBktNLfb2Md0NS9NAcxmwlPaM/s1600/bathwall10.JPG"><img style="cursor: pointer; Some of the walls were made out of cinder block and others were made from wall board. Nothing was straight, and it was a pain to try and get things straight. After a lot of hard work, we were unable to get some parts of the wall straight. The wall behind the sink bows a little bit, but it is hidden behind the mirror and the sink. Found a hidden message written on one of the boards. That was kind of interesting to find.<br />The color I chose for the walls is called Icelandic. It is a mix between blue and purple. The color is perfect in the bathroom, it really brightens it up. <br /><br />Pics of the walls:<br /><br /><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiqxkNqELo6G-0dyDrBnUF02dTP5STZGEU5THaokpu_99ClG038sKI-oUNdNFwIvlTmWXB3Kn2KRuqOze795AhcOnR4CorJh2se0BirxDLJAxoUVY41SOcgW9IOojiBLOlInqZqXTF0v5s/s1600/Walls07.JPG"><img style="cursor: pointer; There were a couple of spots on the wood that had to be taken out and replaced. We also decided to add a few more boards for some added support. After that was done, the plywood was put down. Plywood is better to use in the bathroom as it won't swell like the particle board does when it gets wet. The linoleum went on top of the plywood and I decided to use the sheet kind in a wood pattern. The sheet linoleum in my opinion is better to use as you don't have to match squares and there is no chance of water leaking down to the sub floor.<br /><br />Pictures of my floor:<br /><br /><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEitfltj-u1DLY3qgCKbBGbJkhApF5RF7HbN-mh665psmC8FncwxSbvzbycc5-YqQRdFcdLuJ5K88DnlYDgPFIoc8BqRyKZgWFzqN4pKoQDqrNLcMjXZCBsd21LEWz9crEi314ZplyVeddE/s1600/Floor1.JPG"><img style="cursor: pointer; width: 200px; height: 150px;" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEitfltj-u1DLY3qgCKbBGbJkhApF5RF7HbN-mh665psmC8FncwxSbvzbycc5-YqQRdFcdLuJ5K88DnlYDgPFIoc8BqRyKZgWFzqN4pKoQDqrNLcMjXZCBsd21LEWz9crEi314ZplyVeddE/s200/Floor1.JPG" alt="" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5655272492084913570" border="0" /></a><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjqBFq6H0h_GQ8MafjK_H8GLWCPKzYFJhXSKlChtFwuFdCMZvsYLd8jndvxr1pb_e9liCQTRltXzADpbd2LSmNikURKMbHqsQ8KDMZap5C7TdeOCUfHjEc5cMi9AkHggtvUE1fuaixyids/s1600/Floor2.JPG"><img style="cursor: pointer; width: 200px; height: 150px;" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjqBFq6H0h_GQ8MafjK_H8GLWCPKzYFJhXSKlChtFwuFdCMZvsYLd8jndvxr1pb_e9liCQTRltXzADpbd2LSmNikURKMbHqsQ8KDMZap5C7TdeOCUfHjEc5cMi9AkHggtvUE1fuaixyids/s200/Floor2.JPG" alt="" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5655272496522717202" border="0" /></a><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgeRXLTDyggSTLcbkCJDE-PF10BQrZVnsKfKSmxNLPimCqck0mBIpTF_JvcNovjDhK3mCM0Na9l_dFyF6z4Nv21M26sZwwHQPTKMt3S6Yt0onyR2qwR__tgq_57vEis_QBUyyHp41xOYLA/s1600/Floor3.JPG"><img style="cursor: pointer; width: 200px; height: 150px;" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgeRXLTDyggSTLcbkCJDE-PF10BQrZVnsKfKSmxNLPimCqck0mBIpTF_JvcNovjDhK3mCM0Na9l_dFyF6z4Nv21M26sZwwHQPTKMt3S6Yt0onyR2qwR__tgq_57vEis_QBUyyHp41xOYLA/s200/Floor3.JPG" alt="" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5655272503968010994" border="0" /></a><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEg9mYCIPXT3_H9YfN3xHkN7eEpq5viDImW6n8OOVrgtpRzJY8D0_jkg_SFWQkDEVxBgKSTMUfnZeXgMpWBzXRRne1qsDBifkm1qWJsPGbLtaLWKWTD_lHaH5w19ZOJEHBNbhV892GfWOT4/s1600/Floor4.JPG"><img style="cursor: pointer; width: 200px; height: 150px;" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEg9mYCIPXT3_H9YfN3xHkN7eEpq5viDImW6n8OOVrgtpRzJY8D0_jkg_SFWQkDEVxBgKSTMUfnZeXgMpWBzXRRne1qsDBifkm1qWJsPGbLtaLWKWTD_lHaH5w19ZOJEHBNbhV892GfWOT4/s200/Floor4.JPG" alt="" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5655272504744214930" border="0" /></a><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiveyIgzB0JeypBMhE7c-wve8Dqq2foNnHpl4hO6uNesRkpR9MOWWihHKeAi-3CTQr_YlC7Xblb_1VAGYx6-CAt4HpcdZr_b4eEh7_LZ6rHg4AI4mhdQFGW16r5ntzS-3EfIs5TPAxfU7w/s1600/Floor5.JPG"><img style="cursor: pointer; width: 150px; height: 200px;" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiveyIgzB0JeypBMhE7c-wve8Dqq2foNnHpl4hO6uNesRkpR9MOWWihHKeAi-3CTQr_YlC7Xblb_1VAGYx6-CAt4HpcdZr_b4eEh7_LZ6rHg4AI4mhdQFGW16r5ntzS-3EfIs5TPAxfU7w/s200/Floor5.JPG" alt="" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5655272514686715666" border="0" /></a><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiWpOVrRu_gkATfa3zN24xcaoD8x3DHoResLexuroxVvfuoZb8SGDb7iXUETrqKmFDXBBReJkKbuCU6D8d0nMimXRRWnsopk4PUl-dIYxfQ-wPmTop-jXlECrh8Dmc7K3qR9wjgCCwQDmk/s1600/Floor6.JPG"><img style="cursor: pointer; width: 200px; height: 150px;" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiWpOVrRu_gkATfa3zN24xcaoD8x3DHoResLexuroxVvfuoZb8SGDb7iXUETrqKmFDXBBReJkKbuCU6D8d0nMimXRRWnsopk4PUl-dIYxfQ-wPmTop-jXlECrh8Dmc7K3qR9wjgCCwQDmk/s200/Floor6.JPG" alt="" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5655272755924141074" border="0" /></a>Roxyhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/16083361605848971648noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4376640376051921908.post-3155830897509897322011-09-22T12:19:00.000-07:002011-09-22T12:29:36.532-07:00Bathroom Phase 1Finally got around to remodeling the bathroom. We started over Labor Day weekend, and finally finished on the Sunday September 18, 2011. It took at total of two weeks to get the project done. The bathroom was in horrible shape. The previous owners put down particle board as the sub floor, then put the tilled linoleum over the top of it. The problem was the tiles were not lined up and there were gaps between the tiles. There was no sealing put around the tiles to help keep the water out. Eventually the water made the floor start to cave in, we had to put a piece of board over the part of the floor by the toilet until we could get the problem fixed. The paint was peeling off of the walls, the tub surround was falling off, and bugs were crawling in. Which was really gross. There were many beetles that got flushed down the toilet.<div><div><div> </div><div>Here are the before pictures of the bathroom:</div><div> </div><div> <a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgzK7yKoyza0xWnaWHTQ8UrmWolQF7GCOaajeEHC9DHyd90dGuiwNzN2mQVCTWEniedFNEszRsvlUXJUI5yD4J5B_J-1eE9lYY08gYIEwIu1Ia3ag0beCeOnrRNTRZ5dv-fRlVhywf5s6I/s1600/Before1.JPG"><img style="cursor: pointer; We didn't pay that much attention to it until this year. When we had a lot of things break in it. So as my husband was digging in the front yard to fix the irrigation, he discovered that most of the pipe had not been buried correctly. As he kept digging the trench, he discovered that the pipe was only buried three inches deep and was not slopped correctly. The pipe was sloped to the highest point with a drain back valve, which was plugged because they didn't put it in and gravel. <br /><br />After seeing that mess in the front he had to dig the whole system up and fix the slopes, but new drain back valves on it and dig a lot of it deeper. It took about two months to do because we wanted to reuse the pipe, so he had to dig the trenches by hand. Wish was kind of hard to do because the ground was packed solid by clinkers. One of the previous owners of the house used the whole back yard and garden area as a trash dump, and a place to put the clinkers from the old coal furnace. <br /><br />We are so glad that this project is now down. I didn't even think to take pictures to show the stupidity of whoever put the pipe in only three inches deep. When you are digging a trench that will house pipe, you want to make sure that it is 6 to 12 inches deep and that the pipe slopes to the lowest point in your yard with a drain back valve buried in gravel.Roxyhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/16083361605848971648noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4376640376051921908.post-65007558204263681292011-07-01T19:20:00.000-07:002011-07-13T19:41:00.893-07:00Photography Studio Phase 1There is a little building that is connected to the garage that we have been using as a storage shed. I've always wanted my own studio to play around in, and here was my chance to have my own.<br /><br />Here are a few pictures of what the inside looked like.<br /><br /><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEg2j2R5vf4lI4XbNwAzsHsn57xC5KvVN2R701DhJTX3NZ7i2BKe9AWAfIboLS4m9hleIILqjhiZ-fQzGXg5Z9whrtgg3RiSfWBuuucqk_CGI6854rKJNHs1uQZOJYdMZXmo52K_0CmUS9U/s1600/IMG_2812.JPG"><img style="cursor: pointer; width: 150px; height: 200px;" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEg2j2R5vf4lI4XbNwAzsHsn57xC5KvVN2R701DhJTX3NZ7i2BKe9AWAfIboLS4m9hleIILqjhiZ-fQzGXg5Z9whrtgg3RiSfWBuuucqk_CGI6854rKJNHs1uQZOJYdMZXmo52K_0CmUS9U/s200/IMG_2812.JPG" alt="" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5629028005337098962" border="0" /></a><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgcdQ_5lNUqAyW6lOxvRN5pgjn6wpYgshSnxpAkO9Ucuw0CuuEmgR7yVqZMbZSGhjY57JJ3rgdnbdZQAxymjxAC5Srg2WeEljrmjBZsFWxlGPHXGVWVarsOp19aTOe2rvEIZCBPiYxmRO8/s1600/IMG_2816.JPG"><img style="cursor: pointer; width: 150px; height: 200px;" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgcdQ_5lNUqAyW6lOxvRN5pgjn6wpYgshSnxpAkO9Ucuw0CuuEmgR7yVqZMbZSGhjY57JJ3rgdnbdZQAxymjxAC5Srg2WeEljrmjBZsFWxlGPHXGVWVarsOp19aTOe2rvEIZCBPiYxmRO8/s200/IMG_2816.JPG" alt="" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5629028296058430594" border="0" /></a><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjCr2pXRYBqiX-kZPe5DlCG-vZq4tY7_DdeC0XJnmYkMBuBvsmUbcgyEoSIszryMLUoaI2jfVpBZxYthXU1h8esZzs_mBokitB4aQwGLulXO9LNhMPKngsaFW1JNKJjohHtpm1uAgLLzAQ/s1600/IMG_2817.JPG"><img style="cursor: pointer; width: 200px; height: 150px;" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjCr2pXRYBqiX-kZPe5DlCG-vZq4tY7_DdeC0XJnmYkMBuBvsmUbcgyEoSIszryMLUoaI2jfVpBZxYthXU1h8esZzs_mBokitB4aQwGLulXO9LNhMPKngsaFW1JNKJjohHtpm1uAgLLzAQ/s200/IMG_2817.JPG" alt="" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5629028708025239922" border="0" /></a><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjAdEet8VVuhZ6UJFrFlYq5uN4DyRybHPI9aaF77jSBZcSCITkXeIL7lxUokX_LGrUWHJG7p3pfzgZwemLq_uUqjAuQdAMRNXapGQSLK1YzhRLO_XSVVjwY8aUzkSgkLsqWPNrNchNKTdk/s1600/IMG_2822.JPG"><img style="cursor: pointer; width: 175px; height: 131px;" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjAdEet8VVuhZ6UJFrFlYq5uN4DyRybHPI9aaF77jSBZcSCITkXeIL7lxUokX_LGrUWHJG7p3pfzgZwemLq_uUqjAuQdAMRNXapGQSLK1YzhRLO_XSVVjwY8aUzkSgkLsqWPNrNchNKTdk/s200/IMG_2822.JPG" alt="" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5629029163273050850" border="0" /></a><br /><br />As you can tell from the pictures the place was a complete wreck. There was stuff piled everywhere, plus some cats had gotten in there and used it as a bathroom. That was just really gross. I found a black widow in the corner, which I squished right away. The peach paint was peeling as well. I'm thinking the previous owners had a thing for the color peach. A lot of the inside of the house is painted that color, plus the little shop is painted peach on the inside and on the outside. I'm not sure why the paint was peeling like it was in some of the places.<br /><br />It took me a couple of days go go through everything and empty it out. A lot of the stuff went to Di and was thrown out as it was broken. After I emptied out the shop, I proceeded to chip the paint away that was peeling with a putty knife. That took a couple of hours to do. After that was done, I got some plastic and masking tape so I could tape over the outlets and light switch. When that was completed the power to the shop was turned off, and I grabbed a garden hose and squirted the whole thing out. That was kind of fun as I like to play in the water. Though the weird part is that as I was squirting the walls off bubbles were forming on them. That was just plain interesting.<br /><br />I let the shop sit over night to completely dry out. The next morning I went in there and swept out anything that had gotten in there. I decided to paint the whole inside black, so I wouldn't have any reflection on the walls, when I'm in there with lamps and taking pictures. It took two gallons of black paint to go over that obnoxious peach color. I even painted the floors. I had to make sure that the black paint was flat, as glossy would have made things reflect when taking pictures. When I was done painting, I moved some things back in there that I would need to store things in.<br /><br />Here is what the inside looks like now.<br /><br /><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEijQ1t_ds8yoDzoOQaWe2nXTcwY0NDNvcKL2XZjuMNnUmEBSQm0mqYq74uEZ4VQzYzKWTGkWmYnqr97JGNeM46VY8W57QRR-U_0glqwf1bHnSvwMgloZWXCyN-Btok6jurTnevRjFGTisY/s1600/IMG_4300.JPG"><img style="cursor: pointer; width: 200px; height: 150px;" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEijQ1t_ds8yoDzoOQaWe2nXTcwY0NDNvcKL2XZjuMNnUmEBSQm0mqYq74uEZ4VQzYzKWTGkWmYnqr97JGNeM46VY8W57QRR-U_0glqwf1bHnSvwMgloZWXCyN-Btok6jurTnevRjFGTisY/s200/IMG_4300.JPG" alt="" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5629031126038073794" border="0" /></a><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgwwWJJzrkPCeDjZ5JSZHPpw_TegxnxQrdr-K7tUepiEzJ7EXq4iD1D40T-b83vzzS-Ckmdl_ZoQN821ImwK2cMg_03ckGqCMD6J4LytpkSdBXmxIjPF1g3WWN4p_I-6KM_b8ktBXsJeMM/s1600/IMG_4301.JPG"><img style="cursor: pointer; width: 200px; height: 150px;" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgwwWJJzrkPCeDjZ5JSZHPpw_TegxnxQrdr-K7tUepiEzJ7EXq4iD1D40T-b83vzzS-Ckmdl_ZoQN821ImwK2cMg_03ckGqCMD6J4LytpkSdBXmxIjPF1g3WWN4p_I-6KM_b8ktBXsJeMM/s200/IMG_4301.JPG" alt="" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5629031491223937874" border="0" /></a>Roxyhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/16083361605848971648noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4376640376051921908.post-71871665228750701482011-06-30T15:44:00.000-07:002011-07-13T19:06:25.518-07:00Staining FurnitureHere is a tutorial on how to stain furniture. It is really easy to do and can be a lot of fun. Plus it is a lot cheaper than buying new. <br /><br />The first thing that you want to do is get all your supplies. Here is a list of things that you will need.<br /><br />1. Some plastic to lay down under the piece of furniture.<br />2. A one inch foam brush<br />3. A two inch foam brush<br />4. Some art brushes that you can get from Wal*Mart or a dollar store.<br />5. A tin bowl to put paint thinner in.<br />6. Paint thinner.<br />7. The color of stain you want<br />8. Varnish<br />9. A quart of flat beige paint. If you get white paint and you have a light stain, you end up putting about ten coats of stain on the wood to get rid of all of the white. I also recommend that you use flat paint, as it is hard to paint over glossy paint. <br />10. Sandpaper, I used 120 fine<br />11. A sanding block.<br />12. Liquid sandpaper<br />13. A sander<br />14. Gloves<br /><br />Just a note if you are going to stain on bare wood, then you do not need the beige paint. You can just sand and begin staining.<br /><br />Here are the steps to begin staining:<br /><br />1. Prep your piece of that you are staining. Make sure that it is clean and dry.<br />2. Make sure you have your sandpaper all ready on your sander. Begin sanding the the wood in a circular motion. It is okay if you don't get all of the old paint or stain off. Just make sure that there are no loose pieces. <br />3. After using the sander, get the sanding block and go over the wood to make sure that it is nice and smooth.<br />4. If there are any part of the wood that you were unable to get to with the sander or sanding block, then use liquid sandpaper. Make sure you are wearing gloves. Shake the liquid sandpaper bottle, then squirt some on a rag. Make sure that you are going in a circular motion with the rag. Sometimes you need to repeat this step a couple of times.<br />5. Once you are done sanding, wipe the wood off to get rid of any sawdust. <br />6. Lay out your plastic on the ground, with your wood on top of it. <br />7. Depending on the size of the piece you are doing will depend on what brush you use. I recommend using the foam brushes because they don't leave behind little bristles. Apply your first coat of beige paint. You might need to use one of the little art brushes to get to hard to reach places like corners.<br />8. Let the first coat of beige paint dry. Look over your piece and if you can see any of the wood underneath it, then you need to apply a second coat of paint. I usually let each coat dry about an hour before applying another one.<br />9. After applying however many coats of paint, you need to open the stain and stir it really good. Taking your foam brush dip the tip in the stain. Make sure to wipe off any extra stain. <br />10. Apply the stain to your piece of wood, by using long strokes. Start at one end and go to the other end. Example, going from top to bottom on a leg, or using one stroke to go across the table. <br />11. Make sure you go the same direction the whole time on top of the wood. If you go in different directions then you will have a mess. <br />12. Take your time, staining should take you a while. <br />13. After you have applied your first coat, make sure to clean the brushes off in the tin bowl with the paint thinner. Also make sure that you are using gloves during this step as the paint thinner can burn. Then rinse the brushes out with water.<br />14. Let the stain dry for a couple of hours. Then look at your piece to decide if you need another coat. If you do repeat steps 9 through 12. Let dry a couple of hours.<br />15. If you used the stain that includes the polyurethane then you can skip this step, if you didn't then you need to open up the varnish and stir. You apply the varnish the same way you apply the stain.<br />16. When you are done with the varnish, throw the foam brushes away long with any art brushes you used, because after so many rinses with paint thinner the brushes begin to fall apart or they won't come clean.<br />17. Let the varnish dry overnight. Check it the next morning, by touching a small surface. You are checking to make sure that there are no sticky spots. If it is still sticky, then that means the varnish is not dry.<br /><br />Remember to have fun.Roxyhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/16083361605848971648noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4376640376051921908.post-11106547414764920662011-06-01T15:07:00.000-07:002011-07-13T15:38:38.461-07:00Staining the Coffee TableThe last piece of furniture that I will be staining for the living room is the coffee table. I stained all three tables with the same color, which was Minwax Polyshades #375 American Chestnut Satin. I wanted all of my furniture to match, so it took me a while to pick out a shade that I liked.<br /><br /><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhlphe0TC_eqoQdJDDL7RfJ_4D0Clctor-LZphliATlrQ5Wba7jKSkIG-KZhJVWfgkn5jSvViTdsOK9Sv4IYdywwePqvjPfPDYJ7hcY_AEQ39I9CzMaO_KhIa9J_wtTXfpFfXmxUTXqEuw/s1600/Before+Sanding.jpg"><img style="float: left; margin: 0pt 10px 10px 0pt; cursor: pointer; width: 200px; height: 113px;" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhlphe0TC_eqoQdJDDL7RfJ_4D0Clctor-LZphliATlrQ5Wba7jKSkIG-KZhJVWfgkn5jSvViTdsOK9Sv4IYdywwePqvjPfPDYJ7hcY_AEQ39I9CzMaO_KhIa9J_wtTXfpFfXmxUTXqEuw/s200/Before+Sanding.jpg" alt="" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5628966730075789506" border="0" /></a><br />As you can tell from the picture, the table was in rough condition. The stain and paint were peeling. You could sit and peel off huge sections, especially on the one side.<br /><br /><br /><br /><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhxulgDrFqfC_028FJQElSDaUAJ9zT_Tb4sm8wSdNxpU-WtgRjssbWW0MPXPUbCbnSz07KOVOw9auukT_BrGZCpoue1Immx_nzyrlcXvx8Hf_b2JKyI6d3biM95Lp3rv1nyEy4KMxXXWcs/s1600/After+Sanding.jpg"><img style="float: left; margin: 0pt 10px 10px 0pt; cursor: pointer; width: 200px; height: 112px;" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhxulgDrFqfC_028FJQElSDaUAJ9zT_Tb4sm8wSdNxpU-WtgRjssbWW0MPXPUbCbnSz07KOVOw9auukT_BrGZCpoue1Immx_nzyrlcXvx8Hf_b2JKyI6d3biM95Lp3rv1nyEy4KMxXXWcs/s200/After+Sanding.jpg" alt="" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5628967520366670850" border="0" /></a><br />It took me about fifteen minutes to sand the table. The red that was underneath is bleeding through. If I don't put a second coat on, it will bleed through on the stain and will look horrible. You would be able to tell where the red was and to me I wouldn't be happy with that kind of job.<br /><br /><br /><br /><br /><br /><br /><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEh25F9mdZiaKFN77Bl_ktfODJNblPfFfIcvKCMlzV3HK387V_XGRtpcy4H8GDQwMajyiuFvtgy7PpZeqjDilsJyxtgPl4vC1BBfQEu2zcmnk1sGXorYPk20SzaeI7QCBYr7uflN1k3Cn7M/s1600/2secondprimer.jpg"><img style="float: left; margin: 0pt 10px 10px 0pt; cursor: pointer; width: 123px; height: 190px;" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEh25F9mdZiaKFN77Bl_ktfODJNblPfFfIcvKCMlzV3HK387V_XGRtpcy4H8GDQwMajyiuFvtgy7PpZeqjDilsJyxtgPl4vC1BBfQEu2zcmnk1sGXorYPk20SzaeI7QCBYr7uflN1k3Cn7M/s320/2secondprimer.jpg" alt="" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5628960086552840754" border="0" /></a><br /><br /><br /><br />Looking at the second picture you can tell that the red is no longer bleeding through by adding the second coat of beige paint. There was no way that I could afford to get new end tables, so I decided that I would try to stain them. I have stained furniture before and have enjoyed it. So I thought that I would try it again. After deciding on a color I got to work.<br /><br /><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgvq_pnbXawZ1ExH3XCi1BbYww-lTssenTVqHFPmWXszgjWmXj6fQOAVlRb80XyNKgKpxLvn85n79uFxQGv1uc2qpdpASDfH8ZFFm2eRyeXGg4-EGU7OxBNBBnQtumKVqhM9NPi3tHk8qw/s1600/Beforesanding.jpg"><img style="float: left; margin: 0pt 10px 10px 0pt; cursor: pointer; width: 161px; height: 207px;" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgvq_pnbXawZ1ExH3XCi1BbYww-lTssenTVqHFPmWXszgjWmXj6fQOAVlRb80XyNKgKpxLvn85n79uFxQGv1uc2qpdpASDfH8ZFFm2eRyeXGg4-EGU7OxBNBBnQtumKVqhM9NPi3tHk8qw/s320/Beforesanding.jpg" alt="" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5628952349908227602" border="0" /></a><br />This is what the end table looked like before I did anything to it. As you can tell it was getting to look pretty worn out and run down. The stain was chipping and scratched. It was time to give this table new life.<br /><br /><br /><br /><br /><br /><br /><br /><br /><br /><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEj8L_Mu7hSvSdho4Zz5PyuvUDqxwx5aZhvS111T-EDiz_Jl4fOr16C5s_TrpvbdaBR_DlLIQkOlbFxiVzZpkghtLWt-qFdWmSHd-ywH26D_xmtZAGwfPcNw-gncSJHsANm3xTCpT0FCblE/s1600/Aftersanding.jpg"><img style="float: left; margin: 0pt 10px 10px 0pt; cursor: pointer; width: 184px; height: 204px;" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEj8L_Mu7hSvSdho4Zz5PyuvUDqxwx5aZhvS111T-EDiz_Jl4fOr16C5s_TrpvbdaBR_DlLIQkOlbFxiVzZpkghtLWt-qFdWmSHd-ywH26D_xmtZAGwfPcNw-gncSJHsANm3xTCpT0FCblE/s320/Aftersanding.jpg" alt="" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5628953921318439250" border="0" /></a><br /><br />Here is the table after I sanded it. It took about ten minutes to sand using a sander. I wanted to get as much as I could off with the sander. Not all of the old paint and stain came off, so I made sure that it was smooth, so it wouldn't peel.<br /><br /><br /><br /><br /><br /><br /><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhgheUBtkikqv_uwdbbrpeIFm429fl_PCXm8KfA0riMxshqspOUatE4qGS1NHSUWhS6Ulw0yK1VH7V8ABTOj7qLZ55ayrByUmHuZiXyLg1eINgJ6iaYhOif17HqE5cU685EtLjg0zO_P8o/s1600/Firstcoatbeige.jpg"><img style="float: left; margin: 0pt 10px 10px 0pt; cursor: pointer; width: 177px; height: 206px;" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhgheUBtkikqv_uwdbbrpeIFm429fl_PCXm8KfA0riMxshqspOUatE4qGS1NHSUWhS6Ulw0yK1VH7V8ABTOj7qLZ55ayrByUmHuZiXyLg1eINgJ6iaYhOif17HqE5cU685EtLjg0zO_P8o/s320/Firstcoatbeige.jpg" alt="" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5628954795730737794" border="0" /></a><br />Here is the table after the first coat of beige paint. You also want to make sure that you remove any furniture from the room. <br /><br />First thing first you need to make sure you have all of your supplies. You need to have:<br /><br /> * Enough plastic to lay over the floor, the amount depends on how big the room that you are doing is. <br /> *Enough masking tape to cover all outlets, to tape the plastic down to the floor, to cover the lights and vents. Also to make sure that you tape off any windows and woodwork.<br /> * Measuring tape and scissors<br /> *A good primer, I recommend the Kiltz brand, and I use a laytex in the bedrooms and other rooms. If you are doing this in a bathroom or kitchen then get the Kiltz oil based.<br /> *A white paint or off white color. You want this to be the base, and again I suggest using a laytex unless you are doing this in a bathroom or kitchen.<br /> * A quart of each color you are going to use, I only used two colors.<br /> * A roller brush and paint tray.<br /> * Paint brushes in various sizes, it doesn't matter if they are the foam or bristle kind.<br /> * Ladder if needed.<br /> * Extension for the roller brush if needed<br /> * Paper towels to wipe up any mess.<br /><br />Once you have all of your supplies gathered in a central location, you can begin prepping the room that you are going to do. <br /><br /> 1. First empty the room out of all furniture if that is possible. If that isn't possible then move it all to one side until you are done then you will have to move it to the other side.<br /> 2. Once the room is empited or things are moved to one side, begin measuring what you need to tape. I usually start with the windows first. Once you have measured, then cut the plastic and lay it on what you are covering, then take the masking tape and tape it in place. <br /> 3. After you have covered everything, it is time to tape the plastic to the floor, so you don't get paint on it. Once everything is taped you are now ready to begin painting.<br /> 4. Open up your primer and stir it really well. Then begin painting. Sometimes you will have to do a second coat of primer because the old paint will bleed through. Once the primer dries, which is usually a couple of hours later, take a look to see if you need a second coat.<br /> 5. Once you are done with the primer, go ahead and open up your base paint and begin painting. Again you might need two coats of the base paint.<br /> 6. Once the paint is dry, which take a couple of hours, decide what paint you are going to use first. Open it up and stir it really good. Then take your brush and dip it in the paint. Once you have paint on the brush, hold onto the brush while you flick your wrists. Paint will then begin to land on the wall. <br /> 7. Don't worry about following any kind of pattern, just have fun and keep splattering away. Once you are done with a color, get a different brush and open up the next color. <br /> 8. Keep in mind when you are doing this, you want your base color to show through. You do not want the walls completely colored. <br /> 9. Once you are done rinse the brushes and let the walls dry. Come back in a couple of hours later and take a look around to make sure that you like what you have done. When you are satisfied, clean mess up and put room back together. <br /><br />A fresh coat of paint can liven up any room in your house. By letting your creativity show, you can really liven up a room. Remember to always have fun, and you can include your kids on this project. Most children find it fun to splatter paint on the walls without getting into trouble.Roxyhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/16083361605848971648noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4376640376051921908.post-39161154916977322862011-04-17T20:16:00.000-07:002011-04-17T20:30:54.512-07:00Raspberry BedMy raspberries are doing really well, except for the fact that weeds are growing like crazy in the bed. We planted the raspberries two years ago, underneath the window of the office. The raspberry bed faces south, and gets a ton of sun, which they like. I decided that I was tired of weeding it all of the time, and thought it would be cool to put rocks in it.<br /><br /><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjcBXxpuhG43L-xmBQD-AroN4qW0_9lhx292qYP91OFG1ro4ti-tE4EZ9moOXccT_hEslGuMjoRB5k2d6ospDmfJYjm-Y6FCpeVmlDscYbfD8hREeH48dER0TbkFAdmBrFBItPLDNkmv3E/s1600/Rasp+before.jpg"><img style="cursor: pointer; width: 320px; height: 67px;" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjcBXxpuhG43L-xmBQD-AroN4qW0_9lhx292qYP91OFG1ro4ti-tE4EZ9moOXccT_hEslGuMjoRB5k2d6ospDmfJYjm-Y6FCpeVmlDscYbfD8hREeH48dER0TbkFAdmBrFBItPLDNkmv3E/s320/Rasp+before.jpg" alt="" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5596759012540638530" border="0" /></a><br />I forgot to take a picture of what it looked like before. It was covered in weeds that I had to pull out, and had to be careful so I wouldn't pull up the plants. I put some plastic down and marked the spots where the plants would be. Then I cut some slits on the marks and gently put the plastic down. I had to gently guide the plants through the slit.<br /><br /><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEh9jI_Fed47GWVR0LY-cEIQsO-9hUNZc7zvcT7ReIx31y1by-I7WdAyorP3bAcnzycDzhzL1fHxGVo1SeQd50uqf3MoQiPctNh9HEoRZ603VQvbt0QJXRcpj69WWJrkkyf0mlJ8oW6Ed0U/s1600/Raspafter.jpg"><img style="cursor: pointer; width: 320px; height: 78px;" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEh9jI_Fed47GWVR0LY-cEIQsO-9hUNZc7zvcT7ReIx31y1by-I7WdAyorP3bAcnzycDzhzL1fHxGVo1SeQd50uqf3MoQiPctNh9HEoRZ603VQvbt0QJXRcpj69WWJrkkyf0mlJ8oW6Ed0U/s320/Raspafter.jpg" alt="" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5596759970958389058" border="0" /></a><br />Here is what my raspberry bed looks like now. On top of the plastic I put rocks of all different sizes and colors that I had collected out on my trips four wheeling and off roading. The rocks add color to the front of the house. I'm looking forward to not having to weed my raspberries this summer.<br /><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgw_lejyDVtUnnQppHrsLocP1XxGK15Us70cwLWTaOfbL1LzAN46qR1SMhSh_n3shjvu8-pgwco-NZ58aD8DWy0PgfxEYLx1pSddHveC4noidkEXhJObWHYcpy8AQRRryuWyGPl0gPXFgc/s1600/raspcloseupaf.jpg"><img style="cursor: pointer; width: 320px; height: 174px;" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgw_lejyDVtUnnQppHrsLocP1XxGK15Us70cwLWTaOfbL1LzAN46qR1SMhSh_n3shjvu8-pgwco-NZ58aD8DWy0PgfxEYLx1pSddHveC4noidkEXhJObWHYcpy8AQRRryuWyGPl0gPXFgc/s320/raspcloseupaf.jpg" alt="" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5596760602258112450" border="0" /></a><br />A closeup of the rocks and my plants.Roxyhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/16083361605848971648noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4376640376051921908.post-26212393950133702522011-04-13T20:01:00.000-07:002011-04-17T20:16:35.507-07:00New Curtains in son's roomI finally decided on some material to make curtains out of for my son's room. It's been almost a year since I've painted and put new carpet in his room. It took a long time to find some material that I liked, that wasn't too babyish or too grown up. I finally settled on a light blue with white stars on it. I bought 3 yards of it and only had five inches left. I'm so glad that I didn't goof up on measuring and stuff.<br /><br /><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhRShjC9LGwoxeqHVFgB-chZkLRdKD23mKj5xrm229mCUqTuSb05SmUM1ktaqg1HQ_xCurN6FApaVHkkqq5zSAQyUaW3jWwdttoR1jWtN8BlQCCmg743b_zqhRs5pAaqy9mjo3WNy1sjX4/s1600/Curtains+before.jpg"><img style="float: left; margin: 0pt 10px 10px 0pt; cursor: pointer; width: 251px; height: 320px;" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhRShjC9LGwoxeqHVFgB-chZkLRdKD23mKj5xrm229mCUqTuSb05SmUM1ktaqg1HQ_xCurN6FApaVHkkqq5zSAQyUaW3jWwdttoR1jWtN8BlQCCmg743b_zqhRs5pAaqy9mjo3WNy1sjX4/s320/Curtains+before.jpg" alt="" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5596754079547553826" border="0" /></a><br /><br /><br /><br /><br />This is what the curtains looked like before I made the new ones. I then had to do some touch up paint where the rod used to sit because when I pulled the rod off some paint came with it.Roxyhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/16083361605848971648noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4376640376051921908.post-71942486803208381952011-02-02T20:13:00.000-08:002011-02-02T20:29:04.775-08:00Fire Place Phase 3The tile is officially done. I'm so glad of that. It was a pain to do because almost all of the squares had to be cut because the fireplace is uneven. The tile job turned out really nice. We decided to go with a sandstone color. In the middle we chose to do a row of patterns. Just below the patterns is where the mantle will be. I still have to stain the mantle, but that won't get done until the weather warms up.<br /><br /><br /><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEi3O05f3tixytUeyZmzQr5S2ybVYfQOw5RodM2DM55sQTKreHCnjaXk89FfImt1k9tWzjKutbozGIDL7jwHVqYhcn24XdrLBBexGgSy7Z5GwydrM_O7eZDZKeI5jLny_RTDJjFcQTXDh78/s1600/Tile1.jpg"><img style="cursor: pointer; width: 116px; height: 200px;" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEi3O05f3tixytUeyZmzQr5S2ybVYfQOw5RodM2DM55sQTKreHCnjaXk89FfImt1k9tWzjKutbozGIDL7jwHVqYhcn24XdrLBBexGgSy7Z5GwydrM_O7eZDZKeI5jLny_RTDJjFcQTXDh78/s200/Tile1.jpg" alt="" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5569314614447376306" border="0" /></a><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgDoZvDBoZYe9LJmP9k17MsQyrAcfYbu7JEIJb1ndx6ZNzOggqAyVeqaS644OaTpmw6ehwrlUxQaOLAkEel_QzkaFEhRy5Jv0wuILgF5uK0MUmC1giWDGaBYR1mXNO0rJYEXQyiexOE5wA/s1600/Tile2.jpg"><img style="cursor: pointer; width: 200px; height: 166px;" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgDoZvDBoZYe9LJmP9k17MsQyrAcfYbu7JEIJb1ndx6ZNzOggqAyVeqaS644OaTpmw6ehwrlUxQaOLAkEel_QzkaFEhRy5Jv0wuILgF5uK0MUmC1giWDGaBYR1mXNO0rJYEXQyiexOE5wA/s200/Tile2.jpg" alt="" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5569315271799352194" border="0" /></a><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjWSHzYRIfpOpSErR0-h8mypPBBhtKLsYarRg4drr1BlPDljB5FtLLFGUGL2QW_ThHC-Hx3rruCL4hsEKpQzFHSRvlw93P-I5MucJwr-y_wN641ErwRE5_sq02P-i-tcHe76V7o7l6pu4A/s1600/Pattern.jpg"><img style="cursor: pointer; width: 200px; height: 152px;" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjWSHzYRIfpOpSErR0-h8mypPBBhtKLsYarRg4drr1BlPDljB5FtLLFGUGL2QW_ThHC-Hx3rruCL4hsEKpQzFHSRvlw93P-I5MucJwr-y_wN641ErwRE5_sq02P-i-tcHe76V7o7l6pu4A/s200/Pattern.jpg" alt="" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5569315529593361858" border="0" /></a>Roxyhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/16083361605848971648noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4376640376051921908.post-82359480197974987042011-01-16T18:52:00.001-08:002011-01-16T19:08:58.005-08:00Fire Place Phase 2<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEi99G6TlUaTnAMmcmRvFA97cp8i7uad0CxuOwf8QtSQiw8Dcam-EqVDkqi5Hl9nx-28QEJ998fkbXynENPkUzjfhxq-oyHR2FgLghxcdKb4uQjpOpdvgFcr9mcQH8pPcI3ydabeOX-YOq4/s1600/wall10.jpg"><img style="float: left; margin: 0pt 10px 10px 0pt; cursor: pointer; width: 200px; height: 170px;" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEi99G6TlUaTnAMmcmRvFA97cp8i7uad0CxuOwf8QtSQiw8Dcam-EqVDkqi5Hl9nx-28QEJ998fkbXynENPkUzjfhxq-oyHR2FgLghxcdKb4uQjpOpdvgFcr9mcQH8pPcI3ydabeOX-YOq4/s200/wall10.jpg" alt="" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5562982874586786530" border="0" /></a><br />We finished knocking down the brick that boxed in the fire box. We took it down to the current floor. As I said in the previous post the floors had been raised, so the bottom of the fire box is about three inches below the current floor. We started way back in July of last year, but I was busy and didn't have the time to sort the pictures and make some posts. During my break, I was able to sort through the pictures.<br /><br />The fireplace is going to take a while to finish. It is really complex and hard. The first thing that we had to do is make a square around the hole that was all ready drilled in the wall. Then I was the one that took the sledge hammer and began knocking the hole in the wall. I found that to be a great stress reliever. So much dust and debris came out of it.<br /><br /><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjbZ2ht2YoChHkikUdO40er5kDrlymZq6f9ETEdloVyLXDkaS7K2oFCO1zIaX8hEaKACbOFhva75Pdth98bisF8RPBsGoAJnesE-93aKQ0DB-9JY_xPiQ5F1Oj1t34_cbmfDFNXUXFyZK4/s1600/Before.jpg"><img style="float: left; margin: 0pt 10px 10px 0pt; cursor: pointer; width: 116px; height: 200px;" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjbZ2ht2YoChHkikUdO40er5kDrlymZq6f9ETEdloVyLXDkaS7K2oFCO1zIaX8hEaKACbOFhva75Pdth98bisF8RPBsGoAJnesE-93aKQ0DB-9JY_xPiQ5F1Oj1t34_cbmfDFNXUXFyZK4/s200/Before.jpg" alt="" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5562640609025343042" border="0" /></a><br /><br />This is what it looked like before we did anything to it. The hole at the top was where a pipe went into the chimney. The previous owners drilled the whole so they could have a small would burning stove in the room. As you can see, close to the bottom there is a little hole. That is where someone, we assume it was the previous owners, drilled a hole to see if the fire box was bricked in. I'm not sure if you could really tell by looking in that small of a hole or not if the fire box was bricked in.<br /><br /><br /><br /><br />This is what the wall looked like after about two swings <a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEg4aIPKYtHoSnrNkNfGDRX79BbuNeWfi1YKW9r-2zjJ7sfYnUDzrfMfoNYGHOBiTwcrH1cd57NDWd9WlSIT2SJCm9Q6voSvJnlBgosUvrXsVoTYOc6C4c5qYSZzGPm9z_7oqNDVaYAXXXY/s1600/wall1.jpg"><img style="float: left; margin: 0pt 10px 10px 0pt; cursor: pointer; width: 153px; height: 200px;" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEg4aIPKYtHoSnrNkNfGDRX79BbuNeWfi1YKW9r-2zjJ7sfYnUDzrfMfoNYGHOBiTwcrH1cd57NDWd9WlSIT2SJCm9Q6voSvJnlBgosUvrXsVoTYOc6C4c5qYSZzGPm9z_7oqNDVaYAXXXY/s200/wall1.jpg" alt="" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5562641634301568626" border="0" /></a>from the sledge hammer. We had guessed right that the firebox was bricked in. After the fire box was bricked it, a layer of white plaster was put over the whole chimney. Then some chicken wire was added on top of that, then more white plaster, then there was pink plaster, which we found it was done to the whole room. Then there was some white plaster put over that, then the whole room was painted a horrible yellow color.<br /><br /><br /><br /><br /><br /> <a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgAuFcp1XmLWeIzQMkkSlB5pOVEnlcniNH4NzoYAs_zRpUvQsaXzQclRn6NBZHXKTcxGh__2TjoPjt1_I1Ebwwr-ZR5gR8weDwpl156TUOZ9LCjUhZmIuDZ5dxG5vKsOztf9y7J3-AvJPk/s1600/wall2.jpg"><img style="float: left; margin: 0pt 10px 10px 0pt; cursor: pointer; width: 154px; height: 200px;" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgAuFcp1XmLWeIzQMkkSlB5pOVEnlcniNH4NzoYAs_zRpUvQsaXzQclRn6NBZHXKTcxGh__2TjoPjt1_I1Ebwwr-ZR5gR8weDwpl156TUOZ9LCjUhZmIuDZ5dxG5vKsOztf9y7J3-AvJPk/s200/wall2.jpg" alt="" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5562643003801791746" border="0" /></a> <br />After all the plaster was taken away from the brick, the real fun began. I started smashing in the brick with the hammer. The brick was really easy to smash in, this took about two swings and it started to fall apart. As you can tell from the picture, as soon as the brick was smashed the debris started falling out.<br /><br /><br /><br /><br /><br /><br /><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiLxVkvj8UnJJ0t9gt5HVtxPIY5_8eLxDqEjVxlI2x-Zx8MP3Z1Y8xCjndQjdV8YBuHMuPq_0OiCPpCyhb8CHwibppU1rT4XQa0R6TjNHdFMiDhYifGPLugQU89WBb2WqWpuY9e7IC7REY/s1600/wall3.jpg"><img style="float: left; margin: 0pt 10px 10px 0pt; cursor: pointer; width: 130px; height: 200px;" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiLxVkvj8UnJJ0t9gt5HVtxPIY5_8eLxDqEjVxlI2x-Zx8MP3Z1Y8xCjndQjdV8YBuHMuPq_0OiCPpCyhb8CHwibppU1rT4XQa0R6TjNHdFMiDhYifGPLugQU89WBb2WqWpuY9e7IC7REY/s200/wall3.jpg" alt="" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5562643647809167858" border="0" /></a><br /><br /><br />As I made the hole bigger, more stuff came out. Then all of a sudden it just started to pour out. Good thing that we had plastic down on the carpet and the whole area. We had made a tent out of plastic so the rest of the room wouldn't get dirty.<br /><br /><br /><br /><br /><br /><br /><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhGt83wBI2_bYMchdr0yFbzLimM9xz3idIg0i8fXY4WSh2WO2UwBpA1wZJD9vP1l22rdIp5t8cz5LWg5jgiCE6wZchGbhyphenhyphenUpNFCOD4t32c4iVPEVPbTNVHQY7FUWC0ABjS-g7v1VJqSxqE/s1600/wall4.jpg"><img style="float: left; margin: 0pt 10px 10px 0pt; cursor: pointer; width: 200px; height: 150px;" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhGt83wBI2_bYMchdr0yFbzLimM9xz3idIg0i8fXY4WSh2WO2UwBpA1wZJD9vP1l22rdIp5t8cz5LWg5jgiCE6wZchGbhyphenhyphenUpNFCOD4t32c4iVPEVPbTNVHQY7FUWC0ABjS-g7v1VJqSxqE/s200/wall4.jpg" alt="" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5562644412309034514" border="0" /></a><br /><br />This is a close up of the hole that I had made. The hole wasn't very big and before I could continue to hit the brick, we had to clean out the stuff from the firebox. It took my husband a long time to dig that stuff out.<br /><br /><br /><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjF4fdmnxqQ4t0gj82MDbsJ2nz0GVqFuYzv2s53NqIJqGc5cKpaKQlS6NCHvxnM8SCqpK7P-hBQqAVoK8LEvezh-PLoZRNXXUmaXmddlEso3Iau1kctygTopNjAKQsk-DIeX51dsCvq-y0/s1600/wall6.jpg"><img style="float: left; margin: 0pt 10px 10px 0pt; cursor: pointer; width: 200px; height: 150px;" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjF4fdmnxqQ4t0gj82MDbsJ2nz0GVqFuYzv2s53NqIJqGc5cKpaKQlS6NCHvxnM8SCqpK7P-hBQqAVoK8LEvezh-PLoZRNXXUmaXmddlEso3Iau1kctygTopNjAKQsk-DIeX51dsCvq-y0/s200/wall6.jpg" alt="" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5562646175486500850" border="0" /></a>After cleaning out a lot of the firebox. The shovel hit against this metal in the back of the box. For a moment we thought that it was the pipe that came up from the floor of the fire box, from the old coal furnace. After playing with it for a while, my husband was able to get the metal out. The only thing we can figure it is that this sheet was put in to divert things coming down the chimney so it wouldn't go down the pipe the furnace used.<br /><br /><br /><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhS0v4zAJWNbhx53Q4jVSCpe0EIHvnJvs9QNo4sdbkBnAHFQH8gXeKn8jGHeRpjoEIlckFr2Nv5HV8uAHDoMHA5ILvgCZMYmiHCj7hUmauo9UqqSav4DBLDBP6J2TA7tMDgvPebMKg5az4/s1600/wall7.jpg"><img style="float: left; margin: 0pt 10px 10px 0pt; cursor: pointer; width: 200px; height: 150px;" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhS0v4zAJWNbhx53Q4jVSCpe0EIHvnJvs9QNo4sdbkBnAHFQH8gXeKn8jGHeRpjoEIlckFr2Nv5HV8uAHDoMHA5ILvgCZMYmiHCj7hUmauo9UqqSav4DBLDBP6J2TA7tMDgvPebMKg5az4/s200/wall7.jpg" alt="" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5562647097846705010" border="0" /></a><br />After about an hour of digging all of the soot and stuff out, we uncovered the pipe to the old coal furnace. The pipe is in rough condition and after time bent from the weight of the debris in the fire box. We still had a ways to go before reaching the floor of the fire box.<br /><br /><br /><br /><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEh3iDEKILkQblIwSuITYgR5Uooc1TCUVfi6drUO7roNfEtMG3SUg5J6aKhhWT0UbYXOoUIJ_ubzOMtWY2FUZcgiRICn2X1zsZDtCqieMSsU88fTCo_smkkyPQLckonSGGtsjsCJMF4TpxA/s1600/wall8.jpg"><img style="float: left; margin: 0pt 10px 10px 0pt; cursor: pointer; width: 200px; height: 150px;" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEh3iDEKILkQblIwSuITYgR5Uooc1TCUVfi6drUO7roNfEtMG3SUg5J6aKhhWT0UbYXOoUIJ_ubzOMtWY2FUZcgiRICn2X1zsZDtCqieMSsU88fTCo_smkkyPQLckonSGGtsjsCJMF4TpxA/s200/wall8.jpg" alt="" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5562649782213661202" border="0" /></a><br />Here is a closeup of the fire box. I was surprised that it arched, as I thought it would just be a square. I knocked more of the brick in the fire box before we reached the bottom of it.<br /><br /><br /><br /><br /><br /><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhYtWBj2XYO79GawZCZGeg6D4XndmEaRR5OoYUlmYnqFWVa1aZqccCBakLvBGeWCzmYEJlWh3TW8miv2lApy1UbFjGJt_TsrSAWcWAzLHMl2jTaKfy-fnZYP-AAbC9Sl7iOMcaqUlxAjR0/s1600/wall9.jpg"><img style="float: left; margin: 0pt 10px 10px 0pt; cursor: pointer; width: 150px; height: 200px;" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhYtWBj2XYO79GawZCZGeg6D4XndmEaRR5OoYUlmYnqFWVa1aZqccCBakLvBGeWCzmYEJlWh3TW8miv2lApy1UbFjGJt_TsrSAWcWAzLHMl2jTaKfy-fnZYP-AAbC9Sl7iOMcaqUlxAjR0/s200/wall9.jpg" alt="" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5562650676540283586" border="0" /></a><br /><br />Here is a picture of the fireplace, from a distance. We had decided to stop there for the day, as we were tired. The firebox was actually taller than we had first thought. It extends three to four inches below the floor, which told us that the floor had been raised at some point. We suspect that the fireplace had been bricked in for close to 80 years, all we know is that it was bricked in when the coal furnace went in and we don't know when that was.<br /><br /><br /><br /><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjwPq2tEutTQ1NIn-LvpNgen8NvZJGoG17HKfMIAm9mSbiaspm9cuqd0YKhacvGU0h85A6ogQlLaXY_z1QMsGWSpYumZvDobfYIl7pTpVgy-z3WS5x8vdEpJm3BCgG4Tb15HShOZ54PQJA/s1600/Key.jpg"><img style="float: left; margin: 0pt 10px 10px 0pt; cursor: pointer; width: 200px; height: 150px;" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjwPq2tEutTQ1NIn-LvpNgen8NvZJGoG17HKfMIAm9mSbiaspm9cuqd0YKhacvGU0h85A6ogQlLaXY_z1QMsGWSpYumZvDobfYIl7pTpVgy-z3WS5x8vdEpJm3BCgG4Tb15HShOZ54PQJA/s200/Key.jpg" alt="" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5562652729411200418" border="0" /></a><br />This is what we found at the bottom of the fireplace. I thought that it was pretty neat to find an old key. I'm curious about what it went to or still goes to. I don't know much about the history of our house, though someone once told me it was the old weigh station.Roxyhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/16083361605848971648noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4376640376051921908.post-74443067749593630362011-01-15T18:55:00.000-08:002011-01-15T19:22:02.389-08:00New CurtainsFor Christmas I got a sewing machine. I'm not very good at sewing, so I figured that my first project should be something simple. I decided to make some curtains for my bathroom and kitchen. I had been living with ugly curtains in both rooms for two and a half years. I found some material that I liked at Wal-Mart and began my project. For my first sewing project since high school home economics class, I think I did pretty good.<br /><br /><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjpSM3zFKnoH3mqH1JDjXMBIp7BamRuxQT_Mkl4OeJmL0ynUnyeH-_piC2KjEmuTwJCE5d9S2TI8siYhLKiD5ZYu1MjYThYJWRHHkCv-A2_wawiQ34raTSD2pLpue8-bpj9ibYKGbxCMeY/s1600/bathroomcbf.jpg"><img style="float: left; margin: 0pt 10px 10px 0pt; cursor: pointer; width: 320px; height: 240px;" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjpSM3zFKnoH3mqH1JDjXMBIp7BamRuxQT_Mkl4OeJmL0ynUnyeH-_piC2KjEmuTwJCE5d9S2TI8siYhLKiD5ZYu1MjYThYJWRHHkCv-A2_wawiQ34raTSD2pLpue8-bpj9ibYKGbxCMeY/s320/bathroomcbf.jpg" alt="" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5562613240860228338" border="0" /></a><br /><br /><br />These were the curtains in the bathroom. They were a very ugly green with palm trees on them. I don't know how long they were hanging there before we bought the house. The bottom on the curtains had some fraying and claw marks.<br /><br /><br /><br /><br /><br /><br /><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjA_xySIGhd4P9qSEGnTbSVBtHjqDUwe5xjIkK7MvG9BZHGeBlpweeaC8E5-F6onAfo62ECGAbgMIC-F_JuvpxCMNeeg9sxT8dQV7ZgdRzzJMPC9MnkQnjW1z4IehG5OFNeg7Gj58O-g94/s1600/Bathroomcaf.jpg"><img style="float: left; margin: 0pt 10px 10px 0pt; cursor: pointer; width: 320px; height: 239px;" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjA_xySIGhd4P9qSEGnTbSVBtHjqDUwe5xjIkK7MvG9BZHGeBlpweeaC8E5-F6onAfo62ECGAbgMIC-F_JuvpxCMNeeg9sxT8dQV7ZgdRzzJMPC9MnkQnjW1z4IehG5OFNeg7Gj58O-g94/s320/Bathroomcaf.jpg" alt="" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5562614004235618178" border="0" /></a><br /><br />These are the new curtains now hanging in the bathroom. They really brighten the room up. They are white with purple and pink flower designs on it. I really thought they turned out good, as they are the first ones that I made.<br /><br /><br /><br /><br /><br /><br /><br /><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhzLhZVfyAQD1PgJq8gMiSFxbYr6ZPOOGO_85rxHBQbdwItdKJEUgsPXJrP9RUg2KI-KFtA1j9RfUoc2WPo4Vzn6JGnkHBe_LH1NNpEnnX8hPD0BrD-hdArqDhtYgvSOW93K66Zo32HUew/s1600/Kitchencbf.jpg"><img style="float: left; margin: 0pt 10px 10px 0pt; cursor: pointer; width: 229px; height: 320px;" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhzLhZVfyAQD1PgJq8gMiSFxbYr6ZPOOGO_85rxHBQbdwItdKJEUgsPXJrP9RUg2KI-KFtA1j9RfUoc2WPo4Vzn6JGnkHBe_LH1NNpEnnX8hPD0BrD-hdArqDhtYgvSOW93K66Zo32HUew/s320/Kitchencbf.jpg" alt="" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5562615147662105874" border="0" /></a><br /><br /><br />These are the curtains that were in the kitchen. As you can tell from the picture they were really ugly. I'm not a fan of stripes, but I thought that this stripe pattern was horrid. I'm so glad that they are now gone!!!!!!<br /><br /><br /><br /><br /><br /><br /><br /><br /><br /><br /><br /><br /><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhb_YR6MeJhsj5PA7pkCYmGS32gl4KGvgyt9CfarbDYZB1266pPu-Hy0KFg6PiNNIX_tKoOkUfafwK6mh8tzAy_MKKzGnwxPQsWRkhIo3KRriEtArBg9JbieXRkSkE4vjM8b2QYfuaYlhU/s1600/kitchencaf.jpg"><img style="float: left; margin: 0pt 10px 10px 0pt; cursor: pointer; width: 240px; height: 320px;" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhb_YR6MeJhsj5PA7pkCYmGS32gl4KGvgyt9CfarbDYZB1266pPu-Hy0KFg6PiNNIX_tKoOkUfafwK6mh8tzAy_MKKzGnwxPQsWRkhIo3KRriEtArBg9JbieXRkSkE4vjM8b2QYfuaYlhU/s320/kitchencaf.jpg" alt="" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5562616635096223522" border="0" /></a><br /><br /><br />These are the curtains now hanging in the kitchen. They are a nice bright blue with butterflies on them. They also brighten the kitchen up. I'm planning painting the kitchen blue, so these will match perfectly when I'm done.Roxyhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/16083361605848971648noreply@blogger.com0
